History is one of the UKs most popular GCSE subjects and valued by both colleges and employers. This course will give students the opportunity to study History in a variety of ways: in depth, across a broad span of time, through local context and with reference to a diversity of cultures.
Studying the 20th Century, students will discuss, and consider the treatment of individuals, communities or groups by powerful ruling elites like those in German and the Soviet Union in the 1930s. Consider the conflicts in the modern world, the Middle East question, the Troubles in Northern Ireland or of the Cold War.
Students will have the opportunity to explore moral issues, express personal views and build an awareness of the problems in transferring present-day values and attitudes to the past. The Course will be fully supported with hand-outs, revision guides and interactive learning.
The course is assessed in two units:
Unit 1 – Controlled Assessment 50%
Unit 2 – Written Examination (1hr 15 mins) 50%
