Outdoor Education

During Year 10 we will be participating in a range of adventurous activities that will build a base of knowledge, experiences and physical skills that will help students with confidence, life skills and personal fitness, these will be accredited with AQA unit awards and internal skills awards booklets for a wide range of different disciplines.

During Year 11 we will change emphasis slightly to work through a range of national governing body skills awards such as NICAS indoor climbing awards, British Canoe Union Paddle power and star awards and National Navigation awards while still keeping the skills awards booklets as a record of experiences and achievements.

Activities will include:

  • Expedition and Navigation skills
  • Rock Climbing indoors and outside
  • Mountain Biking in a range of locations
  • Caving
  • Kayaking and Canoeing
  • Bushcraft and forest skills

This course will continue through the year making the best use of different activities and locations to make the most of the prevailing weather conditions and will need a certain level of commitment.

Possible Careers and Further Education
