Last term, one of our Year 7 students, Tanya Vaughan, entered a writing competition to write a mini-saga in 100 words or less. The competition was organised and run by the Young Writers and was called ‘Welcome to Wonderland’.
Tanya did 2 drafts of her story before she was happy and then her English teacher, Emma Johnson, sent it off.
On 6th February, Emma received the exciting news that Tanya’s story, “How Sophie Became Queen” had been successful and would be included in a published anthology of stories. This is an incredible achievement as ‘Welcome to Wonderland’ proved a very popular competition with schools and over 18,000 entries were received. Publication date is the 30th April. The school will receive a complimentary copy of the anthology.
Needless to say, we are all very proud and delighted with Tanya’s hard work and success!
Tanya’s teacher, Emma will be taking her on a picnic as a reward.
